Hello!
Hello!

I'm so glad you're here!

Here are a few tidbits about myself… In 2022, I declared myself a writer. During the pandemic, I started chipping away at layers of self-doubt, and my hidden identity burst forth. Surprised and excited, I sought guidance for this unchartered journey because I still had doubts.

I enrolled in The Writers’ Studio at Simon Fraser University for a Certificate in Creative Writing. During this year-long programme, I met generous, competent writing instructors, and a group of peers who became friends and workshop peers. We continue to meet monthly to review each other’s work and provide invaluable feedback. I gained confidence during this time, and became a better writer.

There is so much to learn about the craft of writing, and receiving feedback is the only way to grow as a writer. So, still curious about the world of writing, I enrolled in a Masters of Arts in Creative Writing at the University of Hull in the UK. This was the best decision for me. My writing improved and I can now edit without qualms about throwing out entire paragraphs, pages or even chapters! And big bonus: I am more confident in my writing now, ready to take chances and put myself out there. Yikes! So, I started this site/blog/newsletter to put myself out there. (Again, yikes!)

Before I was a I writer, officially, I was an executive and leadership coach and consultant, and I taught leadership in masters and bachelors programmes in Canada, the USA and Europe. It feels like another world now. Oh, the stories I could tell! (I probably will, except the NDA parts of course…) My career took me from banking, to higher education, to dining with prime ministers, ambassadors and royalty in Luxembourg, to running an inn in Banff, to hard hats and steel-toed boots in the oil sands. What a ride! Check out my LinkedIn profile for the down-low.

I grew up in Montréal, did my Bachelors in Ottawa, and moved to the UK to finish it. I bought a one-way ticket and packed two suitcases, determined to live in Europe. I quickly learned that the UK wasn’t Europe, to my geographical confusion. I met a great guy and move to Luxembourg with him at the end of the school year.

Fast-forward 15 years, I moved back to Canada with him and settled in Banff, Alberta, in the Canadian Rockies. Moving back "home" was fraught with big ups and downs, and for the longest time, I wanted to move back to Europe. We’ve been here twenty years now and I feel settled, ready for this chapter of my life.

I am currently working on Wild Rose, a thriller based in Montréal and Calgary.
